1. Background
This environmental statement has been produced in support of our objective to provide a positive contribution to improving the environment in which we all live and work. Sychem Ltd is concerned with the deterioration in the quality of our living environment.
Man's specific and engineering advances over the last 150 years have served to cause an adverse imbalance with the way we interact with nature's maintenance of our planets ecosystems.
The reduction in the rain forest areas has had a serious impact on the quality of the air which we breathe and our planet's ability to protect and regulate its ambient air temperature and air quality. Extensive deforestation is having a dramatic effect on the air we all breathe.
The seas around our shores continue to become more polluted as we produce higher volumes of non-biodegradable waste products.
Man's desire to create, use and dispose is reducing the planet's resources.
2. Sychem Ltd's Objectives
Whilst Sychem cannot pretend to make significant improvements to the condition of the world's environment, we are committed to making a small but positive contribution in our own environment. Through a programme of assessment, change and reassessment of our products and processes, Sychem can review those processes which have detrimental environmental effect.
Sychem has adopted a dual approach to controlling its environmental affairs.
(a) Our processes
Firstly,we ensure that our processes are reviewed to ensure that environmental considerations are understood and addressed as appropriate. This includes looking at transport and waste.
(b) Our Products
Many of the products supplied by ourselves are energy effcient designed to save water and reduce energy consumption. We strive to ensure that our products are obtained from sustained or recycled sources. Sychem engineers run 'safe chemical courses' showing users how to handle and dispose of chemicals in a safe and environmentally friendly way.
