Laboratory Autoclaves

Why use autoclaves within a laboratory?

Laboratory autoclaves are used for the decontamination of laboratory waste, sterilisation of laboratory glass and plastic ware and even media preparation and production.

It should be noted that different laboratory Bio Safety Levels exist dependent on the nature of the work being undertaken, such as BSL2, BSL3 or even BSL 4.

One of the most important areas of consideration is to understand the application the autoclave is intended for so as to be sure to provide the most efficient cycle performance required by the department.

For example media preparation, liquid processing will need the addition of optional features such as jacket cooling and air ballasting.

Why decide on Sychem for your autoclave project?

Consider the application

Think, are you using the autoclave for glassware, plastic ware, media preparation, liquids, waste? This will have an impact on the features you require.

Throughput requirement

Decide how many waste containers, beakers, cylinders, Duran bottles you wish to load per cycle based on your daily throughput need.

Volumes and dimensions

Decide the chamber volume / dimensions you require based on your throughout.

Steam requirements

Have a think about how you are going to generate the steam? Do you have steam already or will you need the autoclave to generate its own steam?

Make your decision

Once you know this you will know if you need an autoclave with an electrical steam generator, direct process steam connection, steam to clean steam generator or a dual electric and steam generator.

Access requirements

Think about doors. Do you need 1 or 2? Single door or pass through between your sterile and non-sterile sides?

Space requirements

Don’t forget the space you have to play with and take a note of the external dimensions of each solution.

Facility needs

Think about access to your facility and whether this selection is to replace an existing piece of equipment or buying new for a new build or department.

What is your budget?

We can tailor to your needs. Whether it’s extras you need or cost-effective alternatives- we have the solution for you.
