Project and Product Design Engineer

Sychem are actively recruiting a Project and Product Design Engineer to join our busy R & D department!

Reporting directly to the Technical Director, we are looking for someone to assist our Research and Development team by assisting in the Design and Development of new products, parts, sub-assemblies and improving existing products.

We are looking for someone to continually work to improve and produce high-specification designs, and produce designs in a cost-efficient manner.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing 2D & 3D CAD drawings/models of new products, product ranges, parts, sub-assemblies, special variants of existing products, fabrication drawings, sales & marketing drawings and other drawings as may be required to the agreed ISO and quality standards.
  • Producing electrical schematics and wiring information documents
  • Designing PLC and user interface software
  • Modifying existing products/drawings.
  • Storage of drawings in-line with company procedures.
  • Researching and specifying suitable proprietary parts.
  • The production of bill of materials (BOM).
  • Visiting customer or supplier premises as may be required.
  • Following HSE machinery safety standards.
  • Machinery Risk Assessment and EHSR for new and existing equipment.
  • Change control – follow company process for drawing and BOM updates.
  • Liaise directly with the Technical Director to specify and agree on design ideas and suitable suppliers and components.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Compiling and maintaining information for the machinery technical file.
  • The production of machinery operation and maintenance manuals.
  • The production of CE/UKCA/UKNI documentation including serial numbers, CE/UKCA/UKNI stickers and Declaration of Conformity.
  • The production of ATEX documentation, stickers and Declaration of Conformity

Qualifications/ requirements of this role:

  • Degree-level Engineering experience, specifically Electro
  • Knowledge of ATEX
  • Computing and PLC programming experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing production and processes
  • Knowledge of Arduino device programming
  • Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Experience with Air Flow Products / Laminar Flow Cabinets (Advantageous)
