Deep Clean & Bio-Decontamination servicing

Sychem provided a Deep Clean & Bio-Decontamination servicing for the decommissioning of a laboratory to be refurbished by CPMS Office fit-out and Refurbishment Company for the University of Cambridge.

The deep clean service was carried out by 2 technicians onsite for 1 day to clean and disinfect all surfaces. The service included the preparation of the entire area ready for the deep cleaning to take place. Care was taken to ensure that all electrical, data sockets and other sensors, such as fire and HVAC, were protected. The area was systematically swept, vacuumed and thoroughly wiped down in preparation for the biological decontamination. All the area was hand washed and treated with Sychem CONTROL Technology platform, including floors, walls, safety cabinet. All sinks and traps were high pressure jet cleaned, followed by a thorough flushing and disinfection. Sychem CONTROL offered highly effective and efficient bactericide, viricide, fungicide and sporicidal agent, and to ensure the levels of cleanliness and successful sanitation, Sychem provided the client with ATP Swab Sampling as part of the decontamination certificate/report.

After the deep clean service, Sychem carried out the Decontamination service with the use of Bioreset Plus VPHP generator. All the area was treated with vaporised H202 for 5 hrs, and Biological indicators and Chemical indicators where located throughout the area to show a comprehensive 6Log reduction fully proved by the validation report.

The decontamination of the Laboratory was conducted over two days, during which the Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2 ) Vapour cycle was performed. Biological and Chemical indicators were fitted throughout the laboratory and used as a guide to successful H2O2 distribution. After the cycle was completed, all the indicators were collected and analysed. The Biological indicators were placed into culture media tubes and then in an incubator at a temperature of between 55 and 60 degrees, initially for 3 days on site, and then another 4 days in the incubator at Sychem. The humidity/temperature sensors, present within the generator, provided instantaneous readings of the decontamination performance throughout the all cycle. The graphs indicated an ideal starting humidity (less than 50%) and a suitable high humidity (above 80%) for over 3 hours, which perfectly suited the size of the area to decontaminate.

The final results indicated that samples collected showed no growth once compared against the ‘One Positive Sample’, making of the Deep Clean & Bio-Decontamination servicing another successful case study for Sychem.
