Multiple Decontamination Method Chamber for Biomedical Research

In partnership with Steelco, Sychem’s Decontamination Lock offers a comprehensive, validated solution for decontaminating heat-sensitive equipment, such as electronic devices entering a facility. Available in single- or double-door pass-through versions, with full glass or stainless steel doors with glass windows, the units feature inflatable gaskets to ensure chamber tightness in SPF barrier settings and during decontamination cycles.
The system supports onboard or external hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) vapour generators, compatible with various vendors to suit specific user needs. Alternatively, it can be connected to a chlorine dioxide generator.
H₂O₂ is distributed as vapour, ensuring homogeneous diffusion, even in hidden areas, via a dedicated ventilation system. This vaporisation/condensation approach maximises surface contact, providing efficient coverage and achieving a sterility assurance level (SAL) of 10⁶ at low temperatures.
A PLC digital controller with a user-friendly colour touchscreen HMI ensures full process control.

D-PRO – On Board Hydrogen Peroxide Generator

Steelco D-PRO is a Hydrogen Peroxide dosing and vapour generator system manufactured to be fully integrated into the technical area of the main equipment sharing the same automation system (PLC and HMI). Through a thermal process the liquid hydrogen peroxide changes its status into gas and by micro condensation is mixed with filtered air and then introduced into the chamber. A precise load cell for H₂O₂ canister is provided in technical area or can be integrated in fascia panel with a dedicated drawer, easily accessible from the loading side.

Fast and Safe Areation Phase

Once the biodecontamination process is complete, to reduce the concentration of H₂O₂ below the permitted set point, a fast aeration phase is performed by injection of fresh filterd air (HEPA filter with H14 ≥ 99.995% MPPS efficiency) into chamber, piping and onboard generator. Steelco has developed two different high-speed aeration systems:
Aeration using the centralised HVAC system, as standard
Aeration by an in-line catalyzer able to render the sterilant harmless, available as option.
In all cases, sterilant is removed from the chamber to a safe level of less than 1ppm before the door gaskets are released and the unloading door is allowed to open.
