FAQs

What is periodic testing of a washer-disinfector?

Periodic testing is the quarterly and yearly programme of tests that confirms a washer-disinfector still performs as validated. It adds thermometric measurement, dosing verification and water quality checks to the weekly tests.

Why is final rinse water tested?

Final rinse water is the last water to contact instruments before packing. It must be tested for chemical purity, microbial count and endotoxins so that it does not recontaminate the load or leave residues.

How often must a washer-disinfector be revalidated?

HTM 01-01 requires washer-disinfectors to be revalidated annually. Revalidation is also required after any repair or modification that could affect performance.

Do I need to complete the weekly course first?

Yes. Periodic testing builds directly on the weekly test methods covered in SYC-WD-W. Delegates without an accredited weekly testing course should contact us before booking.
