Isolator Mock-Ups

Sychem delivers full-scale isolator mock-ups in partnership with Ortner at our dedicated training facility at our UK Headquarters in Southampton. Giving your team the opportunity to test and refine the isolator design against your actual process before manufacturing begins.

As park of the package once you order an Isolator with us, you specify the isolator around your application. You can adjust physical attributes such as working height, chamber dimensions, glove port positions and transfer port locations, and confirm the isolator accommodates the critical components your process relies on.

Sychem Awarded Supplier

Sychem is an awarded supplier on the NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub framework for Aseptic Isolators and Cabinets. This framework provides a compliant route for all NHS organisations, part or fully government funded organisations and blue-light services to access a complete range of aseptic isolators and laminar flow cabinets, along with installation, maintenance, and validation services.

What Is An Isolator Mock-Up

Mock-ups are full-scale, functional models of Isolators (or components) that allow customers to have a hands-on experience before final installation. By working directly with the mock-up, customers can test and validate workflows and materials handling before final installation, helping to ensure the system is efficient to use.

This stage gives the customer the opportunity to identify any adaptations needed for specific site or process requirements. As well as providing a valuable opportunity to train staff ahead of going live, ensuring teams are confident and prepared from day one.

The isolator mock-up takes place within the first month of the contract agreement and lasts 2-5 days, depending on the project’s complexity. It is built around an isolator model and a set of template drawings that your team works through and modifies in real time.

What To Expect?

You decide who attends: choose the people who will operate, clean, maintain and release product from the isolator, so it can be built around them and their requirements.

Over two to three days, your team works through the mock-up, checking glove port positions, operator reach, material transfer and cleaning access. Following the mock-up, you receive revised design drawings, normally within 10 working days. Once you approve them, manufacture begins.

Why Carry Out a Mock-Up?

A mock-up resolves design questions while they are still inexpensive to answer. Ergonomic problems, awkward material transfers and poorly placed equipment become obvious once your operators work at full scale.

Your operators assess reach, visibility and posture at each glove port before the design is fixed. This reduces the risk of strain injuries and gives your team an isolator they can work at efficiently throughout a shift. Changes made at drawing stage cost a fraction of modifications made after manufacture or factory acceptance testing.
